SC:Mere delay in compliance of S.157 CrPC, not a good ground to acquit

The Hon’ble Supreme Court, on 26th May 2020, in the matter of Ombir Singh v. State Of Uttar Pradesh And Another pronounced that delay in compliance of Section 157 of CrPC, cannot in in itself, be a good ground to acquit.

The Hon’ble Supreme Court observed that:

Delay in compliance of Section 157 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, cannot, in itself, be a good ground to acquit. (Para 4)

Delay in compliance of Section 157, CrPC, has to be considered while examining the credibility of the version of the eye-witnesses (Para 4)
