Ministry of Finance announces commemorative coin of ₹100 denomination.

The Ministry of Finance (Department of Economic Affairs),  on 13th December 2018, via notification no. G.S.R. 1194(E) notified the Coinage (Issue of Commemorative Coin on the occasion of Birth Anniversary of Late Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee) Rules, 2018.

As per these rules, the coin of Rs. 100/- (Hundred) denomination shall be coined at the mint for issue under the authority of the Central Government on the occasion of “Birth Anniversary of Late Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee”


Shape of the Coin – Circular

Diameter of the Coin – 44 millimetre

Number of serrations – 200

Metal Composition – Quaternary Alloy : Silver 50% ; Copper 40 % ; Nickel 05% ; Zinc 05%

Design –

Obverse Side : This face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar in the centre with the legend “Satyamev Jayate” inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word “भारत” in Devanagari script and on the right periphery with the word “INDIA” in English. It shall also bear the Rupee symbol “” and denominational value “100” in International Numerals below the Lion Capitol.

Reverse Side : This face of the coin shall bear the portrait of “Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee”. The inscription “अटल बिहारी वाजपेयी” in Devanagari script and “Atal Bihari Vajpayee” in English shall be written on the top left periphery and top right periphery of the coin. The year  “1924” and “2018” in international numerals shall be flanked at bottom of the portrait.

Denomination of the Coin – Hundred Rupees

Standard Weight – 35 grams
